xOdds Explained: How Expected Odds Work
xOdds is Fine Line's estimate of the true probability of a bet. When bookmaker odds are higher than our xOdds, that's a value bet. Here's how it works.
True Odds vs Bookmaker Odds
Bookmakers set odds to balance their books and leave a margin. They don't always get it right. Fine Line uses a model to estimate the real probability of an outcome. We call that xOdds.
If we think a team has a 40% chance of winning (xOdds of 2.50) and a bookmaker offers 2.80, that's value. You're getting better odds than the event deserves. Read more in our value betting guide.
How We Calculate xOdds
The model uses historical data, team form, expected goals, injuries, and plenty of other factors. It's updated regularly so new information feeds in before match day.
We don't publish the full recipe, but the idea is straightforward: combine the signals that matter and turn them into a probability. Same kind of approach bookmakers use, just geared toward finding value.
Using xOdds in Fine Line
In the app, xOdds show up next to each market. We compare them to the odds you can get. When there's a clear gap, we flag it. You decide whether to take the bet.
Fine Line also suggests stake sizes based on the edge. Everything is free. No subscription for xOdds. Check out Match Insights and live scores in the same app.
